Farhan, Amir march to semis unchallenged
Source: OUR STAFF REPORTER November 4, 2008 KARACHI - Top seed Farhan Mahboob and second seed and favourite Amir Atlas moved into the semi finals of the PSO sponsored Chief of Naval Staff international squash clinching easy wins over respective opponents here Tuesday at Pakistan Navy Roshan Khan Jahangir Khan squash complex.
Farhan Mahboob took his quarter final without breaking sweat in sixteen minutes with straight games 11-4,11-4,11-5 win over unseeded Martin Knight of New Zealand.
Amir Atlas considered as the best bet for Pakistan at world level took thirteen minutes more than the top seed to overpower qualifier Safeerullah Khan in straight games in a contest full of long rallies 11-1, 11-7, 12-10.
Two other seeds players Mansoor Zaman seed three in the US dollar 25,000 prize carrying championship was extended by Amjad Khan who finally surrendered after a 53 minutes long battle which ended 11-13,11-9,10-12,11-9,11-7 in favour of Mansoor.
Fifth seed Yasir Butt stayed on the court longest of all other three semi finalists before he defeated Kashif Shuja a New Zealander of Pakistan origin in four games 11-9, 11-1, 6-11, 11-9.
