Salman steers Lahore Lions to victory

LAHORE Lions sneaked away with a two runs win over Quetta Bears. The win came from the jaws of defeats. Had not Waqas ad Wahab Riaz not truck at the right time they defeat was sure.

Batting first, Lions banking on the 99 runs innings from salman Butt produced 187 with Nasir Jamshed 22 being another major scorer. Salman scoring 99 runs passed his previous highest of 73 and also crossed 500 runs in T20 when he reached 41. But the innings of class was of Butt who dashed in with 10 boundaries and three mighty sixes. He played with a strike rate of 147.76. Naseer Khan with two wicket was lethal.

In reply, Bears were going great till Sohail Khan (85) was playing in which he produced small partnerships with Samiullah Agha (31) and Arun Lal (29). But when he was taken by Wahad Raiz the other players failed to maintain the run rate which was at one time above 10 per over and lost in the process making 185 runs.

Ahmed Shehzad, Samiullah Agha, Umar Akmal and Nazar Hussain made T20 debut.
