India and China qualify for women's hockey WC

Karachi – Former world hockey power India and the fast emerging Peoples Republic of China have qualified for the women’s world hockey cup which will be played in Rosario Argentina in 2010 after the two teams qualified for the final of the women’s Asia cup now in its final stages at Bangkok Thailand.
Pakistan the biggest hockey power since 1947 is not featuring in the women’s Asia cup.
According to information available here Saturday India stunned supremely fit three time finalists South Korea 3-2 in the first semi final of the women’s Asia Cup and in the other semi final China defeated defending champion Japan 1-0.
The final between China and India will be played on Sunday.
Asia has been given three places in women’s world cup. Two have already been filled by India and China and the third will go to an Asian team through one of the world cup qualifiers.

In the semi final India produced a quality show this evening taking a 3-0 lead midway in the second half after leading 1-0 at half-time. The Indian defenders gave no room to the surging Koreans, but scored three splendid goals. The first by Jasjeet Handa came in the eighth minutes from a perfectly executed penalty corner.
Shortly after the break, Jasjeet produced another gem of a goal from the top of the circle and Rani Rampal unleashed a super reverse flick for the third goal.
