Pakistan edge out Indonesia in Five-nation Rugby

LAHORE – The Pakistan national rugby team defeated Indonesia by 13-11 in the opening match of the Asian Five-nations Div II tournament that started in Jakarta on Wednesday.
According to reports received here, the officials of the Pakistan camp termed it a great victory for team which showed skill and power. Both the forwards and defenders played equally well and at half time the score was level at 3-3 with both teams converting from penalties. Manan Naseem converted the kicks for Pakistan.
The second half swayed with both team showing good skills and Mansoor, captain and vice captain led from the front. Shakeel Ahmed at flanker also had some great runs.
In the backs, Junaid at fly half, controlled the game well and at full back Manan Naseem showed great skills with excellent kicking to keep Indonesia out of Pakistan half. In the second half, Sahir Aslam also scored for Pakistan to bring the score to 13 points.
In the end of the second half Indonesia came back to score a try which they missed the kick to give Pakistan victory and a entry to the final of the championship.
Pakistan will take on the much-improved Iranian side which earlier beat Guam 44-11 in the final of the HSBC Asian 5-nations on June 12. A victory in the game will give Pakistan the championship and also promotion in to DIV 2 and a jump up in the Asian ranking.
