Salim Altaf new PCB COO

LAHORE - The PCB governing board has appointed two new directors and gave a stamp of approval to Salim Altaf as the board's new Chief Operating Officer and also issued directives for cut in budget across the board.
Besides, it decided that there would not be any discussion on the past.
The meeting was attended by nine out of 14 members of the governing board that included Ijaz Butt (chairman), Dr Mohammad Ali Shah, Visal Durani, Abdur Raqib, Farooq Rehmat, Shakeel Sheikh, Moin Afzal, Aslam Sinjarani and Mian Minur while those who did not make the occasion are Munir Hafiz, Aamer Rokhri, Ali Raza, Justice Sajjad Yousuf and Intikhab Alam, who is in Abu Dhabi with the Pakistan team.
Addressing a press conference here at the National Cricket Academy, newly appointed COO Salim Altaf said that the letter of appointment as Director Game Development and NCA will be issued to Aamer Sohail today (Tuesday) while Wasim Bari, former Test cricketer, has been appointed as Director Human Resource and Administration. He will assume his charge from November 18, 2008.
Altaf also give clear hints of further appointments in the board. "The meeting unanimously appointed me as COO while the director general post has been abolished whereas Bari and Sohail's appointments were also approved and there will be more new faces." He further said that the governing board discussed in details the budget with general review of the income directed for cut in expenses throughout and further discussions would be made in the next meeting of the governing board, which will convene in the third week of December.
When asked about budget cut and further appointments, Altaf said that all the appointments made were on important posts and the board cannot be runs without those officials. "The general guideline to all in the board is to cut the budget. "
