On Sohail, he said that he would give complete time to the job in hand and wont take up commentary during his tenure as director.
He further stated that the board did not want to look at the past and have inclination to move forward. "The past cannot be undone so all on the members have decided to look ahead," he added. The issue of Mohammad Yousuf was discussed but no decision or policy was formulated as yet.
The board also discussed amendments in the constitution and gave its recommendations. "The constitution meeting will be held on November 20 at Islamabad where further discussion will be held and final shape will be given to the constitution," he added. To a question, Altaf said that they wanted to have the involvement of majority of the departments in domestic cricket.
On Mohammad Asif, he said that the bowler stands suspended but he has written a letter to the board asking for salary for being a contracted player.
Asif has asked the board to help him resume his international career. "Asif in his letter to the chairman wants the board to cooperate with him so that he could start playing international cricket," Altaf added.
The PCB banned the right-arm fast bowler from playing international and national cricket after he tested positive for the banned substance nandrolone in the Indian Premier League in May.
Asif has appealed to the IPL's drug tribunal. "We will see what legal support we could give him in clearing his name," Altaf said. "At the moment his suspension stays."
Asif's lawyer Shahid Karim said that the tribunal, which was adjourned after hearing Asif's appeal last month in Mumbai, has not yet given a new date.
Both the 'A' and 'B' samples of Asif tested positive at a laboratory accredited to the World Anti-Doping Agency, but with a different concentration of nandrolone in each sample.
Asif had not applied for a therapeutic use exemption for the drug.
The three-member drug tribunal is made up of former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar, Dr. Ravi Bapat and lawyer Shirish Gupte.
In June, on his way home from playing in the IPL, Asif was detained for 19 days in Dubai after authorities allegedly found a substance containing opium in his wallet at the international airport. Asif was released without being charged for any offense.
In 2006, Asif and fellow Pakistan paceman Shoaib Akhtar were withdrawn from that year's Champions Trophy after both tested positive for nandrolone during the PCB's internal testing
On the Pakistan and India series, Altaf said that they are moving ahead as scheduled. "The first match will be held at Karachi followed by second at Lahore and the third match would be held at Rawalpindi provided the work is complete there in time. "If there will be any reluctance from India in visiting Pakistan, we would decide the future course then but right now everything is as scheduled," he added.
