Shoaib, Akmal named in Pakistan squad

LAHORE - Controversial fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar has been named along with Kamran Akmal in the 15-member squad for the next month’s ICC Champions Trophy cricket Tournament.

Addressing a press conference, chief selector Salahuddin Ahmed said that his fitness has been impressive during the practice matches held at Multan. “His demeanors and the court case plus the Rs seven million fine has not been aligned with his selection,” the board official said.

Akhtar returned to the team after December last and since then he has been involved in a tiff with the board in one way or the other be it discipline or fitness.
