Subh-e-Nau National Tennis Cup: Top seeds reach last eight

KARACHI - All the seeded players confirmed their place in the quarterfinals of the men's singles of the Subh-e-Nau National Hard Court Tennis Cup here at the Modern Club Courts on Saturday.

Top seed Aqeel Khan had no significant resistance from his opponent Heera Ashiq in the pre-quarterfinal. Saad Baloch gave tough time to seed three Jalil Khan and clinched fist set, however, in second set, he could not continue his struggle and after losing second set was retired from the game. Asim Shafique, Nomi Qamar, Tanveer Ashiq Abid Ali and Danish Ahmed also joined them in the quarterfinal.

Mehaq Khokhar, Shahida Kauser and Uzma Zakriya made their way to ladies singles quarterfinals easily. Rest of the matches of the ladies singles pre-quarterfinals were scheduled to be played on late Saturday evening. Aqeel paired up with his younger brother Jalil Khan beat Mubarak Hussain and Akhtar Hussian in straight sets.
