Noppon of Thailand new World Jr Snooker champion

KARACHI - Noppon Saengkham eked out a narrow one frame victory in the final over his tough challenger Soheil Vahedi of Iran to win the IBSF World Junior Under-21 Snooker Championship crown at Kish Island (Iran) on Thursday afternoon, according to information received here.
The Thailand won the cliff hanging final by nine frames to eight in the best of seventeen-frame contest.
Pakistan has also entered current junior national champion Asjad Iqbal and Hamza Akber in the competition. After good performance in the group league, the players reached the second knock out stage of pre quarter-finals, where Hamza Akber lost. Asjad Iqbal moved on into the quarter-final, where Amir Sarkhosh of Iran beat him by three frames to five.
