Pakistan Asian Youth Games contingent to leave from 18th

LAHORE - The 39-members Pakistan contingent will participate in the first Asian Youth Games to be held in Singapore from June 29 to July 7, PSB spokesman Azam Dar said on Tuesday.
Pakistan contingent will depart in five phases whereas first batch consisting of Pakistan football team will depart on June 18 2009 from Islamabad .
Pakistan teams will participate in athletics, football, sailing, swimming and table tennis. A meeting of all the managers and contingent officials was held on June 16 at 1900 hours in the office of the Director General Pakistan Sports Board, Islamabad to discuss various administrative issues. The meeting was presided over by Mr. Naveed Akram Cheema, President Wapda Sports Board/Chef-de- Mission. In his welcome address, the chairman said Pakistan players will face the players of leading teams of Asia.
"I am confident that our players are mentally prepared to show their prowess with full dedication and concentration. The participation of our teams in these games is too prestigious for us. Each and every member of the contingent will be the Ambassador of Pakistan" he said.
All the participants of the meeting also met with Pir Aftab Hussain Shah Jilani, Federal Minister for Sports in his office. He advised them to work hard for bringing glory for the nation.
