Inconsistent result might give a reprieve

Published: August 20, 2008

LAHORE - Fast bowler Mohammad Asif, who failed his second dope test, might escape after difference in the sample results, experts say.
Legal experts say the quantity of nandrolone in the B sample was 6.2 while in the previous test it was 5.4 and the bowler intends to challenge the difference.
A sports medicine expert doctor on condition of anonymity said that the difference in the results would give him a chance on technical grounds to escape any punishment.
He said when the sample for test is taken, it was divided into two equal parts and difference of result from the same sample raises questions that there is something dubious about the results.
He did not believe that the neighbouring country would dampen the bowlers career.
