Pakistan qualify for Junior World Cup Hockey

LAHORE - Pakistan junior hockey team tough did not won the gold medal and finished third in the just concluded 6th Men's Junior Asia Cup Hockey but they qualified for the 9th Junior World Cup Hockey to be staged jointly by Malaysia and Singapore next year.
According to sources, the International Hockey Federation (FIH) in their meeting at Hyderabad (India) has decided to increase the number of teams for the World Cup by 20. By virtue of that Pakistan along with the two finalists India and Korea has qualified for the mega event.
Meanwhile, India has retained the Junior Asia Cup Hockey beating South Korea 3-2 in the extra time. Korea led 2-0 but the Indians capitalized on Koreans numerical inferiority when one of their players was given yellow card. India scored two quickfire goals and then 5 minutes into the extra time netted the match winner.
