PHF announces officials to monitor dist elections

LAHORE – The Pakistan Hockey Federation has named the scrutiny committee head and election commission to examine and supervise elections in all the districts throughout the country.
Ch Akhlaq has been made the head of the scrutiny committee and will be assisted by Ijaz Gul while Rao Iftikhar, secretary sports will supervise all the district elections as election commissioner.
Addressing a press conference, PHF president Qasim Zia said that he wanted the election process to be carried out on merit and with transparency.
Iftikhar Saeed will look after the Sindh districts, Olympian Mohammad Akhlaq has been assigned the duty at NWFP, for Balochistan Musaddaq Hussain will be the official scrutiniser while for Islamabad, Fata, Gilgit, Baltistan, Olympian Rahim Khan has been named as an official incharge.
Qasim said that his aim was to see merit prevail. “There will be no compromise on it and all the people named for the election and scrutiny supervision have credibility.
“The election commission has also been given all the authority in the smooth holding of elections,” he added.
He further informed that a monitoring committee under Maj Mushtaq, PHF executive secretary with Asif Sohail and Olympian Ustad Afzal has been formed to listen to any complaints if any.
Bajwa said that the PHF will provide all the facilities to the election commission
Ch Akhlaq would look see the clubs given voting rights meet all the criterion laid out by the PHF executive board.
“The clubs will be asked for its previous year record and a district having at least five clubs and the big city having 15 clubs registered would be considered for voting,” he added.
“If a club has majority of players who are above 30 years of age would be asked to patronise an under-16 team in the club or support a school.
“The reason being that the national championship have an age limit of under-30 while club championship the PHF plans to hold would allow under-16 players,” he added.
