Punjab clinch Prime Minister's Gold Cup Hockey Tournament

LAHORE - Punjab defeated Sindh in the final of the Prime Minister Gold Cup Hockey Tournament here at the National Hockey Stadium to clinch the title.
Punjab scored three goals in the inaugural edition of the tournament which also featured Balochistan, NWFP and Islamabad.
However, in this six-day activity Balochistan finished third behind Punjab and Sindh. Punjab remained in lead by one goal in the first half and when entered the second half they tightened their grip on the match by adding two more goals. Amina Bashir took Punjab into lead and in the second session, Sidra and Sumera made the scoreline 3-0 to ensure a clear win for Punjab.
Federal sports secretary Ashraf Khan was the chief guest of the final and gave away the prizes to the winners and other participants. Ms Perveen Gill, secretary PHF women wing, secretary sports Punjab Munawar Abbas and secretary PHF Asif Bajwa were also present on the occasion.
Bajwa later went to watch the national hockey probables trials at the Ground 2 to select the team.
