NA committee wants PCB constitution as soon as possible

LAHORE – The Sub committee of National Assembly Standing Committee on Sports has recommended to the PCB and the Ministry of Sports to finalise the PCB’s constitution as soon as possible.
The Sub Committee of National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Sports held a meeting at National Cricket Academy on Wednesday. Ch Saud Majeed, Convener Subcommittee chaired the meeting.
The Sub Committee recommended that PCB and the Ministry of Sports in consultation with the Subcommittee finalize their work on the PCB Constitution by January 31 2010.
The Sub Committee paid rich tributes to Umpire Aleem Dar for winning the award of ICC Umpire of the year 2008 and expressed their confidence that he would continue to win laurels for the country in the future.
The meeting began with an introduction given by COO PCB, Mr. Wasim Bari.
Director International Cricket Operations Mr. Zakir Khan made a presentation in which the achievements of the Pakistan team in the international arena were presented.
The Challenges and issues surrounding Pakistan cricket were presented in detail. The various aspects of the teams performance were presented and future plans to continue the upward climb of the team were put before the committee. The committee members appreciated the efforts made by the International Cricket Council. They hopes that the efforts of the PCB will continue to bear fruit in the future.
Sultan Rana, Director of domestic cricket Operations made a comprehensive presentation on the state of the domestic game in Pakistan. The efforts of the PCB at various levels such as U-17, U-19, and senior level were presented to the committee. Changes made by the PCB in the format of various domestic competitions were discussed and future plans to improve the domestic game were also presented. The importance of the domestic game was highlighted.
