Hockey team captain to lead Pak contingent in Olympics parade
By ABDUL JABBAR FAISAL July 26, 2008 ISLAMABAD - The captain of the national hockey team, Zeeshan Ashraf will be the flag-bearer of the Pakistan contingent at the opening ceremony of the 29th Olympics Games 2008, which will be held on August 8 in Beijing, China.
Pakistan is participating in four disciplines including hockey, shooting, swimming and athletics. However, our players got wild card entries in three games except hockey. Pakistan claimed three gold medals in the Olympics hockey competitions in the past. Last time, Pakistan gained this honour in 1984 Las Angles Olympics beating West Germany 2-1 in the final.
