Australia's Siyaguna stuns Abhishek to reach semis

ISLAMABAD - India's Shantanu Rajput and Vaidik Munshaw, Malaysia's Ariez Elyaas Deen and Australia's Michael Siyaguna qualified for the semi-finals of the third ITF Pakistan Junior Tennis Tournament on Wednesday here at PTF Tennis Complex.

Michael Siyaguna of Australia made the major upset of the tournament by beating second seed S V Abhishek of India in straight sets 6-4, 6-2. Ariez Elyaas Deen of Malaysia brushed aside local opponent Muhammad Abid Ali Khan in a well-contested three set competition. Abid lost the match due to physical fitness. Third seed Indian player Shantanu Rajput eliminated compatriot Ankesh Bhargava in another three-set match. Rajput displayed brilliant hard hitting from the baseline and won the final set without conceding a single game. Now he will face Deen of Malaysia in the semi-final while Michael will take on Vaidik of India in the second semi-final of the tournament.
