KARACHI - Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry’s President Muhammad Haroon Agar has urged the Provincial Government to accord top priority to control law and order situation and take practical security measures to control crimes in Karachi, particularly in Old City Area and all industrial zones.

He informed that main business-stream and hub of commercial activities viz. old city areas markets were badly affected where crimes were rampant. He stressed upon the need to deploy police force at entry and exit points of old city markets and establish pickets. Snatching of vehicles loaded with goods in industrial zones has also increased, he added.
He emphasised that there should be no lip-service and law enforcing agencies should be visible and taking action in these localities. He also asserted that deployment of police force and vehicles in the affected areas under no circumstances be withdrawn.
He highlighted the dire need of essential legislation to punish criminal elements to eradicate crimes. He criticised the on-going sale of mobile SIMs on pan-khokhas and carts at pavements alongside roads.

He informed that Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah has formed a special committee for reconciliation and address the grievances faced by the business community of Karachi. He stated that being Chairman of Reconciliation Committee he will meet all political and religious parties in Karachi along with other stakeholders to redress the grievances particularly relating to law and order situation in Karachi.
He welcomed the suggestions from KCCI to control law and order situation in old city area and industrial zones.
