ICSMEs for strong customer base, brands

KARACHI - The International Council of SMEs (ICSMEs) has advised the Union of Small and Medium Enterprises (Unisame) to inform its members to develop their own brands and build strong customer base by regular marketing strategy using networking and social media to support their targets.
According to the statement President Unisame Zulfikar Thaver speaking at an iftar party organised by Commerce Forum at a local club conveyed the message of ICSMEs and said the SMEs need to upgrade their products constantly by improving productivity, popularising their brands and looking after their customers well by treating their customers like a family.
He said it is very important to have a strong customer base by continuously marketing their products globally. The SMEs can use the internet services and the social media to promote their brands. He also emphasised the need to build image of their brands and promote their brands through the agents located in the global destinations.
Citing the example of India he said although our agricultural produce is comparatively better than Indian produce commodities like rice, wheat, maize, chilies because of healthy climate and environment yet we are unable to fetch handsome prices because of lack of marketing, packing and presentation techniques.
He called upon the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) to examine this aspect and arrange for training programmes to promote the skills.
