Rs750b for next year's PSDP

ISLA MABAD (APP) - A sum of Rs 750 billion would be allocated for Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) in the next financial years budget, PMs Advisor on Finance Shaukat Tarin said Wednesday. In an interview with a private news channel, he said, federal govt would allocate Rs 400b, provinces Rs 200b besides Rs 150b additional from foreign grants would also be spent on the PSDP of 2009-10. He said tax revenue would be increased from 18 to 22pc by expanding the tax net. He added that govt does not want to enhance burden on the existing tax payers and revenue collection would be enhanced by increasing efficiency. He said inflation would be brought down to single digit to ensure maximum benefits to the poor and targeted subsidies would be offered to the poor segment of society. Inflation has been come down from 25pc to 17pc during the outgoing financial year, he said adding that by June it would be pushed down to 13pc. While in next fiscal year inflation would be decreased to single digit level, he informed. He said GDP growth in the next financial year would be from 3 to 3.5pc. An integrated energy board would be established in a bid to overcome energy crisis. Huge money was being allocated to produce electricity through hydro, coal and wind, he concluded.
