MABAD (APP) - The government has allocated Rs 3220.078 million for Industries and Production Division in Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) for the year 2010-11.
According to budgetary document released here on Saturday, the out of the total allocations Rs 2145.197 would be spent on 29 ongoing projects while 16 new projects would be initiated and government has allocated Rs 1074.881 million.
The government has allocated Rs 610.986 million for development projects of Pakistan gem and jewellery company.
Rs 312.556 million have been allocated for the development of marble and granite sector in the country. The government has allocated Rs 124.094 million for sport industries development center at Sialkot to develop and promote the sport industry in the country. Rs 131.204 million would be spent to establish foundry service center at Lahore whereas Rs 13.861 million has allocated for the revival of Cutlery Institute of Pakistan Wazirabad. Rs 240.247 have been allocated for Prime Ministers initiative for village products specialization. The govt has earmarked Rs 217.712m for meat processing and butchers training centers Multan to enhance meat production in the country. Export processing zones and area development and EPZ in Balochistan including ROZs would be initiated with a total cost of Rs 411.555m under PSDP 2010-11.
Meanwhile, the government has allocated an amount of Rs 718.317 million for ongoing and new schemes for Information Technology & Telecom sector under Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) for the Year 2010-11.
Interestingly, only two schemes have been allocated funds which included the laying of Cross-Border Opticle Fibre Cable System between China and Pakistan for Voice & Date traffic with Rs 5 million while Rs 20.676 have been allocated for Strengthening of Server Room at Ministry of IT at Islamabad.
In IT sector, the government has allocated Rs 692.641 for the ongoing schemes while Rs 25.676 million have been allocated for two new schemes.
As per details of the allocation for different projects ongoing projects, Rs 60 million have been allocated for Federal Govt Data Center & Intranet at Islamabad. Another Rs 50 million have been allocated for application of E-Office (Basic Common Applications at all divisions of the federal govt.). Rs 20.325 million have been allocated for phase-III of Internships at Islamabad.
In Telecom Sector, Rs 63.187 have been allocated for an ongoing project of Inter-Connect Billing & Customer Support System for SCOs while Rs 74.975 million are being earmarked for National ICT Scholarship Programme.
Another Rs 51.191 have been budgeted for GSM Expansion of Gilgit-Baltistan while Rs 17.049 million have been earmarked for Gilgit-Baltistan Terrestrial Link Microwave.
Meanwhile, the Federal Government has allocated Rs 1646.219 million for 95 ongoing and 13 new schemes of Science and Technological Research Division under Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) for 2010-11.
According to a budgetary document released here on Saturday, Under the plan, Rs 1592.820 million have been allocated for 95 ongoing schemes while Rs 53.398 million will go to 13 new projects.
The government has also allocated Rs 139.929 million for construction of office building for Ministry of Science & Technology & its subsidiary organizations at Islamabad. Government has allocated Rs 72.944 million for upgradation of facilities to produce Silicon Solar Modules upto 80 KW, PCRET, Islamabad while Rs 49.387 have been earmarked for purchase of Lab equipment/provision of furniture and fixtures for PSQCA Labs Complex, Karachi.
Rs 49.387 have been earmarked for PCSIR Industrial Linkage Programme (Food, Textile, Material Sciences, Pharmaceutical & Chemicals), Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar & Quetta.
Another Rs 32.924 have been allocated for production of Bioenergy from Plant Biomass, Pakistan Technology Board (PTB),Islamabad.
Rs 30.201 million have been allocated for provision of electricity to Earthquake effected areas through installation of 100 MHP plants while Rs 61.733 million have been earmarked for upgradation of Extension of PCRET facilities at Islamabad Centre.
The government has also allocated Rs 74.080 million for provision of safe drinking water; (a) establishment/upgradation of water quality monitoring laboratories (24); installation of demonstration of water filtration plants (24); assessment survey of all existing water supply schemes in all the four provinces.
Rs 37.040 million have been allocated for upgradation /BMR of NPSL, Islamabad while another Rs 20.130 million have been earmarked for establishment of Technical Training Center for precision mechanics & instrument technology at PCSIR Campus, Peshawar.
Rs 11.831 million have been earmarked for Pak-US agreement for S&T (Phase-II) while Rs 8.231m have been allocated for strengthening of P&D and Monitoring Activities in MoS&T (Phase-II).
Another Rs 8.231 million have also been allocated for strengthening of HRD in MoST & its subsidiaries (Department of 400 PhDs), at PCSIR, Islamabad.
