Population Welfare Dept to hold seminar on 13th

LAHORE – Population Welfare Department will organize a seminar on 13th July on “Every One’s access to Reproductive Health” aiming at creation of awareness among the public about mother-child care and birth control. Advisor to Punjab Chief Minister Zakia Shah Nawaz will be the chief guest on the occasion.
Secretary Population Welfare Altaf Aized Khan said that on special instructions of the Punjab Chief Minister the department had been striving hard to cope with the targets of population control. There were about 200 family health clinics, over 1500 family welfare centres and 1855 male mobilizers were working in the province. The NGOs are in addition to them, he added.
The secretary further said that the Population Department in collaboration with US Aid and Deliver Project was introducing Logistic Management Information system. He said the birth rate that was 2.69 in 1998 was reduced to 1.97 in 2010-11.
He said that the birth control drug users had been increased up to 6.76 million.
