RE - Pakistan Workers Confederation (PWC) has demanded the government to review 18th amendment of the constitution as it had decentralised the trade unions.
Speaking to a press conference at Bhakhtiar Labour Hall on Tuesday, Secretary General PWC Khurshid Khan said government should develop 'National Industrial Relation Frame Work in accordance with ILO Convention which was ratified by the government of Pakistan.
He said government should evolve cordial industrial relation getting respected the workers fundamental rights instead of allowing some managements to victimize the trade union representatives and workers. The PTCL company management has illegally stopped the salaries of 600 workers and more than 250 workers have been fired along with secretary general Pakistan Telecom. Another representative of CBA Hassan Muhammad Rana has trapped in false cases under anti terrorism act just for demanding 50pc increase in pay of workers as announced by Prime Minister of Pakistan in Budget, he added.
He said We urge the policy makers to take immediate steps to check the raising economic and social plight of the poor masses and the working class. He further said day-to-day sky rocketing price hike, unemployment and increasing inequalities between the rich and poor had disappointed the working class. He suggested that government should introduce economic, social and labor reforms by adopting National Economic Self Reliance Policy. He urged the government for not imposing RGST and withdrawal high interest rate of bank to sustain national industries and agriculture for raising employment. He said government should do something to recover the waived off loans and national wealth from the elites and political bigwigs. He also suggested ban on use of luxury goods.
He urged the government to build new hydel and coal thermal power stations in the country to provide cheaper electricity instead of high priced energy being produced by Rental Power Stations.
