SIALKOT - Over 2.820 million acres of land would be brought under paddy crop in Punjab during Kharif season 2012. Official sources in Agriculture department told APP here on Sunday that the Provincial Agriculture department had initiated a well-knitted training programme for the paddy growers about the preparation of nurseries and cultivation of paddy crop to attain the target. The Agriculture department had directed the paddy growers to use only recommended varities of paddy seeds and pesticides to obtain maximum per acre yield. As many as 2.89 lakh acres of land would be under paddy crop in Sialkot, Pasrur, Daska and Sambrial tehsils of Sialkot district during the season. The tehsil wise target of paddy sowing is Daska 1.30 lakh acres, Pasrur 85,000 acres, Sialkot 80,000 acres and 65,000 acres. The local agriculture department had already completed farmers training programme in 1442 villages of Sialkot, Daska, Pasrur and Sambrial tehsils of Sialkot district.
