Minister for timely completion of NHA projects

ISLAMABAD - Federal Minister for Communications, Dr Arbab Alamgir Khan Khalil has stressed the need for timely maintenance of all NHA projects so that these projects could be utilised for a longer period of time. 

Discussing the motorways’ maintenance issue in a meeting with the ministry staff, he said there was a need to allocate more funds for its maintenance to extend its lifespan. He stressed the need for minimising non-development expenditures so that more funds could be allocated for maintenance purposes. He also took notice of the delay in repair of roads under the National Highway Improvement Programme. 
Regarding projects in Sindh, the chairman said that sufficient funds had been made available and the roads condition had improved. 
The Federal Minister also emphasised upon the need to improve the monitoring system to maintain the quality of the projects.  On this occasion, the Chairman NHA told that monitory teams have been formed to assess the performance of General Managers of all the Regions, who will continuously monitor progress of projects of their respective regions
The meeting was attended by Federal Secretary Communications Anwar Ahmad Khan, Chairman NHA Syed Muhammad Ali Gardezi, Members NHA and Regional General Managers.
