KARACHI – The 9th international three-day exhibition My Karachi - Oasis of harmony will be held on July 13-15, 2012 at Karachi Expo Centre.This was stated by the acting president Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) Younus Bashir while addressing a press conference here Monday. He said that the purpose of holding this exhibition was to introduce and popularize “Made in Pakistan” brand and negate the negative propaganda against Pakistan and show the world that this is a dynamic country.Bashir said that Indonesia and Bombay Chamber of Commerce have confirmed their participation in the show while other countries including Bangladesh and Sri Lanka will be sending their confirmation soon. He said leading Pakistani companies and multinationals and foreign exhibitors will display their products at more than 200 stalls in four halls.Former president KCCI and chairman Businessmen Group Siraj Kassem Teli said that the exhibition was aimed at presenting soft image of Karachi to the outside world.He said 500,000 to 600,000 people visit the exhibition in three days and this is open only for “families” and the entry is free. He said the resilient people of Karachi, Sindh Governor, provincial government, TDAP and diplomats extend their full support to this mega event which has become the identity of KCCI.Teli said people of Karachi are friendly and tolerant and support the recreational activities including product exhibitions.He said My Karachi exhibition generates its own funds and does utilize KCCI’s money. In fact, we give the income from this show to KCCI, he added.Responding to a question, he said that deserving new businessmen or businesswomen get the stall at concessional rates. We some times give stall free of cost but this is not the set policy, it is done occasionally on case to case basis, he noted.Chairman special committee for My Karachi, Ismail Suriya said that the procedure for booking of stalls at the exhibition has been simplified this year. He said sufficient number of stalls have been booked as the organizers have also booked the space at four halls. The number of stalls can be increased keeping in view the interest of exhibitors this year, he added.
