RE - Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) marketing companies have imported 5,972 metric tonnes of LPG this month to fulfil the gas requirement in the country.
The LPG Association of Pakistan (LPGAP) spokesman Fasih Ahmed said on Wednesday that the product has been imported by private companies under the existing LPG policy, which demonstrates that LPG marketing companies are alive to the market as well as the consumers concerns. Two marketing companies have imported 2,600 metric tonnes and 3,372 metric tonnes of LPG this month and this additional availability of the gas would help maintain consumer prices at reasonable levels, he maintained. So far the LPG imports to Pakistan remained at 22,737 metric tonnes this year, with 8,240 MTs in January, 8,397 MTs in February, 128 MTs in March and 5,972 MTs this month, while the highest LPG import figure for a single year stands at 47,938 MTs during 2007, he added.
