'Govt making sincere efforts to get foreign debt written off'
RABAD (APP) - Advisor to President Dr. Abdul Qayoom Soomro said that if the government succeeds in its efforts to writing off the 50 billon dollars foreign debt, the country would witness a faster economic development.
The present government is making sincere efforts to convince all those who granted loans to write off them off because the country is facing economic hardship by playing frontline role against terrorism, he said talking to journalists at a reception hosted by the office bearers of Hyderabad Press Club here Thursday night.
He said that the governments policies restored confidence of the foreign investors and now they have started investment in different sectors of the country. Earlier, they were hesitant to invest huge amounts in different projects in the country, but now they are satisfied with the policies of the government, he added.
When the PPP government came into power, he said that it was propagated that the government could not complete one year, but all such propaganda came to an end as the present government has successfully passed two and half years with the support of the countrymen.
It is because of the dynamic leadership of the President Asif Ali Zardari who is also leading the party, he said and added that under his guidance, effective policies are being formulated for the welfare of the masses and soon the people would witness a new era of progress and prosperity.
The present government is serving the masses in every nook and corner of the country and the President is personally monitoring the welfare plans, devised for the uplift of the country and socio-economic development of the common people, he said. He said that Asif Ali Zardari is giving personal attention to completion of all development projects in Sindh province and that is why he has long stays in Sindh.
The government has decided to lay a chain of industrial units in the rural areas of the province with improvement in deteriorated infrastructure, he said and added that after completion of all the projects, employment opportunities would be available for jobless youths.
Dr. Abdul Qayoom Soomro said that the government is making all out efforts to maintain law and order in Karachi and in this direction, President Asif Ali Zardari is also taking keen interests with close contacts of allied parties.
The foreign hands in disturbing peace in Karachi cannot be ruled out as these forces do not want economic stability in Pakistan, he added.
About granting of residential plots to working journalists, the Advisor to President said that the govt wanted to establish residential units for the journalists all over the country including Hyderabad.
President Asif Ali Zardari is taking interest to provide maximum facilities to journalists community as PPP has full respect to journalists and an independent media.
Among others, the Media Coordinator to Sindh Chief Minister Aftab Khanzada and other PPP leaders were also present on the occasion.
