ISLAMABAD - The State Bank of Pakistan has clarified that the SBP Governor Yaseen Anwar’s statement regarding submission of loan defaulters’ list to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on February 26 has been incorrectly reported in a section of the press.Clarifying the statement of the Governor, SBP spokesman on Friday pointed out that. Yaseen Anwar while making submission to the Senate Standing Committee on Finance yesterday did not say that the loan defaulters’ list will be furnished to the Election Commission on February 26. What the Governor told the Senate Standing Committee was that the defaulters’ list will be updated by February 25 and be readily available thereafter to the Election Commission provided a request is received by the State Bank from ECP regarding the clearance of any candidate contesting the elections. The SBP Governor neither informed the Standing Committee nor the Election Commission about the submission of defaulters’ list to the ECP, the Spokesman added.
