ISLAMABAD – The Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) is making arrangements for Pakistan’s participation in the `Second China-Eurasia Expo‘ in China in the first week of September this year.
Talking to APP, TDAP Director Shahzad Rana, who is looking after the expo’ arrangements,said that the authority has invited the leading companies and individuals exhibitors through an advertisement to take part in the expo. The exhibitors will display their products for the five days at Urumqi and hold spot sales as well as book orders during the last two days of exhibition, he added.
The products, including textiles, leather, carpets, sports goods, surgical goods, utensils, jewelry, handicrafts and foot wears will be part of the expo.
Shahzad Rana said that Pakistan participated in the first Eurasia Expo held last year in September through exhibiting variety of products but it was not for the sale purposes. However, the upcoming 2nd expo will provide a good opportunity to the exhibitors in term of sale and booking orders, he added.
That time, Pakistan has set up its pavilion carrying a variety of products at the 250 square meter complimentary space given by the expo administration and got excellent response.
The products were selected keeping in view the cultural similarities between the participating countries and the visitors, Shahzad Rana informed.
About the last year response, he said that `Pakistani Pavilion’ remained overcrowded and there was no space to enter in it and it was declared the best pavilion. The Pakistani Pavilion was beautifully decorated by Pakistan Institute of Fashion and Design (PIFD), Lahore and the visitors were curious to visit the displayed traditional Pakistani products carrying modern touches, he said.
Assistant Director China Eurasia Expo Secretariat, Urumqi, China, Shadiya Ablahat, in an interview with APP said Pakistan’s participation in the upcoming second China Eurasia Expo would be fruitful in strengthening the trade relations between thecooperation” and offer great opportunity of marketing and sale of the products. The expo is likely to attract 5,000 international purchasers and it will offer a new platform to summit diplomacy between China and Eurasian countries and also an important channel for cooperation in economy, trade, investment, culture, science and technology, finance and humanity between Xinjiang and Eurasian countries, she said.
This session will make innovations and highlight the Expo’s international, Eurasian and Chinese features. Various forums and economic promotions such as China- Eurasia Economic Development and Cooperation Forum, Shanghai Cooperation Organization Business Day and Chinese and Foreign Culture Week will be held during the Expo, Shadiya Ablahat said.
The 1st China Eurasian successfully held last year witnessed wonderful events and remarkable economic and trade achievements, realizing a foreign trade volume of 5.56 billion dollars, concluding foreign economicand technological cooperation projects worth 898 million dollars and signing 178 domestic cooperation projects with a total investment of 185.056 billion Yuan, she revealed.
More than 4,000 overseas purchasers and 315,808 visits were recorded at the event including 113 foreign guests above ministerial level and heads of international organizations from 32 countries. A total of 33 countries , three regions and one international organization set up booths at the Pavilion of Overseas Products. The expo will prove as a platform of diplomacy between China and the Eurasian states and a channel that promotes Xinjiang’s cooperation with China’s neighboring countries particularly Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Pakistan, India, Afghanistan and Mangolia, she added.
