MABAD (APP) - Owing to record high price of the gold in the international gold markets, gold import in the country dropped by 14.49 per cent during the first month of current financial year.
During the month of July, about 105 kg of gold worth $ 5.1 million was imported as compared to 125 kg gold worth $ 5.9 million imported during June, said data released by the Federal Bureau of Statistic (FBS).
During the same period of last year, the gold import in the country was recorded at 311 kg worth $ 8.9 million.
Beside gold, the import of other metals including iron and steel scrap also decreased by 6.73 percent during July this year as about 132,924 metric tons of the metals worth $46 million were imported.
The import of iron and steel scrap was recorded at 138,001 metric ton costing $ 49.4 million during the last month (June).
The import of iron and steel increased by 4.62 percent. Likewise aluminium wrought and worked was increased by 21.36 percent during the period under review.
Gold eases
KARACHI (APP) - Gold slipped by Rs 343 to close at Rs 52,285 per 10 grams in the local market Wednesday, as its international price also eased to $ 1,844 an ounce, market sources said.
According to Karachi Sarafa Association, tola (11.664 grams) price also decreased by Rs 400 to Rs 61,000. Silver closed unchanged at Rs 1,157.17 per 10 grams.
