Power shortfall reaches 4,186MW

The electricity crisis continues to plague the country in the hot summer as the shortfall on Friday reached to 4,186 megawatts.

The current power generation remains 13,852MW while the electricity demand has jumped to 18,038MW further aggravating the crisis in the country, a senior official of the PEPCO said.
According to NTDC officials, electricity demand is causing excessive pressure on the supply system due to which system failure has been reported in various areas.
Meanwhile, the electricity of urban areas is being cut for 10 hours while rural areas are facing 16 hours of power outages.
