Reversing thermal to hydro power ratio reduces tariff

ISLAMABAD - Former member WAPDA and energy expert, Sardar Tariq said electricity tariff will be lowered to one-fourth through revising the ratio of thermal power to hydro power.

Talking to a private news channel, Sardar Tariq said thermal depends on imported furnace oil, therefore, rates of electricity increases in the country with the rise in the prices of furnace oil in the international market.
However, he maintained that the imported furnace oil should not be used in thermal as the ratio is about forty-five percent high while in the world it is run with only two or three percent.
He said seventy percent of the mixture of our total national power production is based on thermal furnace and thirty percent is on hydro which has great effect on the economy of the country.
