He stated that provincial government wants to give confidence for investment in livestock, poultry, fisheries and other similar sectors to fully utilise the growth potential of province. He said that Sindh has a big agricultural sector and besides food items, it is famous for prominent breeds of cattle and dairy farming. Secretary Investment Mohammad Younus Dagha while welcoming the chief guest stated that Government of Sindh has taken various initiatives in terms of subsidised financing, technological support, research and development and capacity building of farmers.
He said that dairy, livestock and agriculture sectors have been the foundation of some of the progressive economies of world. Pakistan in general, Sindh in particular has vast potential for modern and technology driven practices. It is pertinent to mention here that second edition of Livestock, Dairy, Fisheries, Poultry & Agriculture Exhibition and seminar were organised by Sindh Board of Investment in collaboration with provincial Livestock and Agriculture Departments on 28th & 29th of January 2012 at Expo Centre Karachi.
The event was a continuation of LDF Exhibition 2011 which was a great success. Strengthened by the success of LDF-2011, this year’s edition included agriculture along with Livestock, Dairy, Fisheries, Poultry (LDFA-2012) to widen scope of activities and benefits of the success of the event to potential participants.
Earlier, LDFA 2012 was formally inaugurated by speaker Sindh assembly Nisar Ahmed Khuhro other day. Khuhro stated that the true potential of Livestock, Dairy, Fisheries, Poultry and Agriculture sectors in Sindh is yet to be exploited and events such as LDFA 2012 provide the platform to ensure that more such interactions among potential buyers; business community and value chain providers are facilitated on regular basis to further explore new markets, increase exports.
Khuhro further said that provincial government endowed immense importance and set ambitious targets to pursue investment opportunities which are available in Livestock, Dairy, Fisheries, Poultry and Agriculture sectors by focusing on value addition and export
The LDFA 2012 was divided into two separate streams running concurrently allowing seminar where various expert speakers shared their presentations, research results, in-depth analysis and future plans on day one and exhibition on both days. One of the Livestock, Dairy & Fisheries Seminar/ Exhibition’s major strengths was its diverse range of exhibits, including both static and live demonstrations which included Horse & Cattle show, Bird Show, Ornamental Fish Exhibition, Dog & Pet show, Ostrich’s Exhibition, Camel Dancing and Flower show which were arranged on the sidelines of the main exhibition to promote local culture and provide positive entertainment to the peoples of Karachi.
Moreover, the involvement of Government of Sindh and its different departments enabled the participants and exhibitors to interact with the Government and discuss potential investment opportunities. During that LDFA 2012 over 350 exhibitors participated, more than 120,000 visitors attended and business deals of worth of Rs 1000 million were materialized. The general public, families, children were very enthusiastic, excited and contented to eyewitness the entire LDFA 2012 event. The chief guest awarded the trophies and certificates to best performers in various activities at the end of the exhibition.
