ISLAMABAD - Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf has directed the Ministry of Information Technology (IT) to start survey and submit a feasibility report for the establishment of an industrial park in Gujjar Khan to encourage IT industry in Pakistan.
The Prime Minister gave the direction in a meeting with Dr S M Junaid, Rector COMSATS, and Dr M Haroon Rasheed, Pro-Rector COMSATS, at the PM’s Secretariat Tuesday. During the meeting, proposals regarding establishment of IT University in Gujar Khan were also discussed. Raja Pervez Ashraf said that establishment of IT University at Gujar Khan would open new vistas of opportunities for the talented youth of the region. He said that all necessary assistance for the establishment of IT University at Gujar Khan would be extended by the Government.
The PM said that the government was taking concrete steps to facilitate IT sector for effective delivery of its services to the people besides providing employment opportunities. In this regard, he said government had planned several projects for promotion of Information Technology by establishing several IT Universities and IT labs throughout the country.
He said that the government was committed to set up IT Centres in every Union Council so that youth could be equipped with IT skills to keep it abreast with state of the art technology.
