Nato supply route reopens

KHYBER AGENCY - The Nato supply was resumed through the Khyber Pass on Saturday after a short suspension due to security reasons, official sources said.

The political administration sources said seven containers, reportedly loaded with food stuff and other daily usage commodities, crossed the Takhta Bag checkpost in Jamrud, a sub-division of Khyber Agency. Assistant Political Agent (APA) Bakhtiar Khan said the seven containers passed through the checkpost with a contingent of security guards.
The containers were cleared after a thorough screening at the Jamrud terminal, an NLC official said. The containers safely crossed the Torkham border to Afghanistan after examination of the custom officials at Torkham, sources said.
The Nato supply via Khyber Agency had been temporary halted due to security threats when unknown militants shot dead the a driver on July 24 at Surkamr in Jamrud.
