QUETTA - Balochistan High Court has disqualified Balochistan’s Minister for Excise and Taxation Babu Amir Umrani for having a fake graduation degree and also directed for lodging an FIR against him.
A Division Bench of Balochistan High Court comprising Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhel and Justice Ghulam Mustafa Mengal issued this order on a petition filed by Niaz Ahmed.
Muhammad Amin was elected member of Balochistan Assembly on PPP ticket in 2008 general elections.
The petitioner pleaded that Babu Amin Umrani contested general elections 2008 from PB-29 Naseerabad on fake degree.
“Amin Umrani did not appear in the examination, Rather in his place, Mumtaz Ali appeared and solved the papers and he (Amin Umrani) succeeded in getting the degree fraudulently”, he pleaded and prayed for his disqualification.
Upon direction of the court the record of examination form was produced before the court by University of Balochistan authorities at which name and address of Babu Amin Umrani were written on the form while photo of Mumtaz Umrani was attached.
The court declared Balochistan Minister for Excise and Taxation Babu Amin Umrani as disqualified after his degree proved to be fake and the court also directed for lodging an FIR against him and cancellation of his degree.
Besides, the court directed Election Commission for conducting by-elections on the above mentioned seat.
Meanwhile, in another case the court reserved its verdict regarding eligibility of Provincial Minister of Communication and leader of PPP Ali Madad Jattak.
