ISLAMABAD - Strong protests against the profane film produced in the United States continued on Wednesday across the country as several hundred protesting lawyers broke through a gate into the diplomatic enclave that houses the US Embassy and other foreign missions.
The lawyers broke through blockades and stormed their entry to Diplomatic Enclave through the main gate, however, the Rangers helped police force to stop the demonstrators outside the Egyptian Embassy.
The peaceful demonstrators somehow managed to enter US Embassy and handed over a resolution condemning the film which has hurt the sentiments of Muslims the world over.
The protesters set alight effigies of the man who allegedly made the blasphemous film.
Political and religious parties have announced a country-wide protest against the film which has enraged Muslims worldwide.
The US Consulate in Lahore was blocked off with containers set on roads leading to it.
Wednesday’s protest follows three days of violent demos in other parts of Pakistan against the blasphemous film.
Two protesters were killed in the demos.
In Lahore, a massive protest was held by Islami-i-Jamiat Tulaba against the anti-Islam film.
The protesters marched towards US Consulate office and gathered outside the office. Police stopped them to enter the office.
In Dera Ghazi Khan, students took out a rally and chanted anti-US slogans. Shutter-down strike was observed in different parts of Tharparkar where protest demos were also held.
A protest rally was taken out from Sessions Court in Peshawar that ended near the Press Club. Hundreds of protesting students burnt tyres and blocked Sher Shah Suri road.
The protesters demanded that government should end its ties with the United States.
A protest demo was also held in Dera Ismail Khan on the call of traders union. The protestors set US flag ablaze at Topan Wala Chowk.
Similarly, rallies were carried out in Tehsil Pahario, Burewala, Renala Khurd, Bhalwal, Haroonabad and Lower Dir.
