A special effects artist who works on Hollywood blockbusters has created a spectacular new range of contact lenses. Film fan Kevin Carter, 39, spends up to two days carefully hand-painting dye onto each lens with a fine brush.
The soft contact lenses, which are 55 per cent water, have a fixed clear centre so the wearer can see through the design.
Mr Carter wanted to be a make-up artist but fell into his dad’s optometry business.
He later combined his interests and expertise to start his own business, 9mm SFX, which has been making lenses for films, drama groups and individuals for 10 years.
Mr Carter, from Oregon, said: “I love horror films so a lot of my own designs are quite scary and creepy.” –WO
