HOLLYWOOD star Tom Cruise looks set to seal his return to bachelorhood by taking over George Clooney’s legendary Lake Como pad.
The Up In The Air star caught wind of talk that Cruise was eyeing up the medieval Castle of Lions, 160km (100 miles) north of Rome, but is now trying to convince him to take over his Villa Oleandra.
Clooney, 51, is reportedly upping sticks to Salerno because his latest lover Stacy Keibler, 32, isn’t a fan of the lakes near Milan. Now Clooney and Cruise, 50, are thought be in talks to ‘strike a deal’. Cruise is desperate for a bit of peace and quiet after 33-year-old Katie Holmes walked out on him in June - igniting a media circus.
Since then the Mission Impossible star has been rumoured to be looking for property in the Big Apple so he can be close to his daughter Suri, who lives in New York with Holmes. Should he put down roots at Clooney’s Lake Como base, the walls will have plenty of stories to tell.
The world’s biggest celebrities have flocked to the pad in times of trouble and jubilation. Clooney loaned the home to The Devil Wears Prada star Emily Blunt, 29, for her wedding to John Krasinski, 32, two years ago. Angelina Jolie, 37, Bono, 52, and Cindy Crawford, 46, have also enjoyed the benefits of the pad. Meanwhile, Cruise was all smiles this week when he got to treat Suri to a trip to Disney World in Florida. –GN
