THE Hunger Games has dominated the 2012 MTV Movie Awards.
The dystopian film took home four accolades, including ‘Best Female Performance’ for Jennifer Lawrence, ‘Best Male Performance’ for Josh Hutcherson, ‘Best Fight’ and ‘Best On-Screen Transformation’ for Elizabeth Banks. “Thank you,” Jennifer Lawrence said of her Golden Popcorn trophy in a pre-taped acceptance speech. “But I can’t eat this.” Meanwhile, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 earned the awards for ‘Best Hero’ - for its protagonist - and ‘Best Cast’.
Emma Watson, who was on hand to accept the latter trophy, said: “We had over 200 cast members and I wish they could all be up here now.”
She added of her co-stars Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint: “I miss you terribly.”
The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 also took home two awards, one for ‘Best Kiss’ and the other for ‘Movie of the Year’.
Stewart was forced to kiss herself, since Robert Pattinson was absent from the ceremony as he promotes new movie Cosmopolis.
Despite earning eight nods, Bridesmaids was shut out of all but two of of its categories, as Melissa McCarthy won the ‘Best Comedic Performance’ award and the cast took home the trophy for ‘Best Gut-Wrenching Performance’. –DS
