YOU might mistake this quirky dress for a Le-wig Vuitton - as it’s made entirely from human hair.
The frock of locks was created by hairdresser Jodie Breeds for the Environmentally Friendly Dress round of this year’s Miss England contest. And it was worn by contestant Holly Lyons, 18, competing under the name Miss 24 Carat - the name of Jodie’s salon in Sunderland. The out-there outfit was constructed from hair donated by Jodie’s clients, with some hair extensions added in. Dressmaker Jodie said: “It got an amazing reaction on the catwalk at Miss England. Everyone kept coming up to us afterwards and saying they had never seen anything like it. Holly like wearing it too, she said it felt really silky.” Jodie’s idea for the Dolce and Gabban-hair dress came when she was thinking about how to represent her salon in the beauty pageant. She said: “My business is about hair and beauty so I wanted to represent what we’re about here”. –TS
