It’s Google’s new London headquarters

A DANCE studio, gym, massage parlour, secret garden and numerous ‘relaxation rooms’.

This isn’t the description of a luxurious five-star resort. It’s internet megalith Google’s spectacular new London HQ.
The 160,000 square foot space in Covent Garden is so packed with distractions to drag workers away from their desks, it’s a mystery how any work gets done. Visitors to Google HQ are greeted by a giant union flag the second they arrive on the eighth floor of the St Giles Tower.
But things get more bizarre the further they delve.
Interior designers Penson were given free reign to create a stimulating and unique work space, and the result is a chaotic explosion of colour. There’s a gym with massage facilities and a dance studio, a rooftop garden that can be used as a temporary work space, and lounges, sofas and easy chairs everywhere.
Google bosses have even installed an allotment where staff can grow anything they want and there’s a special ‘Bikedry’ area where Google-ites can hang up their sweaty cycling gear. Other themed rooms include  ‘Google Green’ and ‘Grannies Flat’ a sitting area stocked with chintzy furniture and a rocking chair.
Even office areas, meeting rooms and conference rooms look more like something you’d find in the big brother house, with colourful wallpaper, padded walls and brightly coloured furniture.                                          –GN
