David Beckham’s statue erected in New York

A 10-foot-tall silver statue of an underwear-clad David Beckham has been erected to promote his H&M bodywear range in New York’s Manhattan.

The 37-year-old footballer first launched his collection with the Swedish retail company back in February, and moody black and white images of the father-of-four modelling the line have since been released.
Speaking about the affordable range, the sports star recently said: “I’m very happy that so far people seem to like it, and the first season was incredibly successful. The challenge is to keep it going and establish a brand that will last many years. That is my ambition.” Similar statues are set to be erected outside H&M stores in Los Angeles and San Francisco.                      –GN
