Boybands made Keira Knightley hate music

KEIRA Knightley has revealed that boybands such as Take That and Boyzone made her hate music as a teenager.

The Pride and Prejudice actress, who is engaged to Klaxons frontman Jamie Righton, told The Sun that she refused to share her friends’ love of boybands whilst growing up: “It’s a really weird one. I remember I actively didn’t listen to music through my teenage years. I remember being 11 and my friends suddenly got into music, and me still wanting to play, like play make-believe, and suddenly I was supposed to be listening to boybands and I found it really offensive. I thought it was literally the fault of the boybands. So I didn’t listen to music until my early or mid-twenties and I was like, ‘Oh, I get it, this is great’.”
The 27-year-old, who appears alongside Steve Carell in new movie Seeking A Friend For The End Of The World, also revealed that despite dating a Mercury Music Prize winner, she still hasn’t developed a passion for music: “I like music but I’m not a music lover. Which is weird because a lot of my close friends and relatives are totally obsessed by it. I’ve always, for some reason, been attracted to people who are. I suppose you’re attracted to any enthusiast of anything, but it’s always been sort of a mystery. I can like it, I can listen to it, but I can equally just sit in silence and not miss it much.”           –TS
