Spider-Man scales the Empire State

PLAYING Spiderman seems to have gone to Andrew Garfields head as he leans backwards off the Empire State Building. And he keeps a protective arm around girlfriend Emma Stone, in true superhero style.

The co-starring couple joined the rest of the cast of The Amazing Spider-Man at the top of the iconic New York building yesterday – and couldn’t resist leaning over the rail for a snap. Emma, who plays Peter Parker’s first love Gwen Stacey in the movie, looked suitably prim in an electric blue dress with a puritan collar as they posed for pictures.
The stunning 23-year-old, who returned to her natural blonde for the role, looked like a woman in love as she laughed at Andrew’s antics.
And she clutched her side as the Brit star made her crack up with his jokes. The 23-year-old actor, dressed in a dark suit and trainer, larked about with Rhys Ifans on the 102 storey skyscraper.
Welsh actor Rhys, who plays evil scientist Curt Connors and his alter ego The Lizard, pretended to tip his pal over when he leaned back for a solo shot.
Co-star Denis Leary and director Marc Webb made up the numbers at the photocall for the movie, released this week.
The fearless bunch seemed unfazed by the 1,224 foot drop to the busy street below as they looked down over the low wall.                                     –TS
