The United States has urged Iran to take concrete steps to assure US and the international community that it was not pursuing nuclear weapons programme. This has been stated by a Presidential spokesman‚ Jay Carney while talking to newsmen in Washington. The United States and other Western countries fear Iran is developing a nuclear weapon but Tehran insists that its atomic program is for exclusively peaceful purposes.
