General Dunford assumes charge of new ISAF commander

Marine General Joseph Dunford, on Sunday took over the charge of Commander NATO forces in Afghanistan from his outgoing predecessor General John Allen. The new general also belongs to US.

The change in command of ISAF  occurred at NATO headquarters at Kabul when US is planning its withdrawal from Afghanistan  by 2014 after shifting the responsibility of security on the shoulders of Afghan Army and it is very much possible that  General Dunford might be the last commander of NATO’s forces in Afghanistan .
General Dunford earlier led the coalitaion forces in Iraq where his companions gave him nickname “Fighting Joe” due to his leadership qualities.
The outgoing General Allan John would assume his new charge ofNATO’s Supreme Commander in Europe has said that the coalition is on the way of triumph , in spite the insurgency of Taliban is going on in Afghanistan against NATO forces as wellas Karzai’s government .
He said, while talking to foreign media  that it would be premature to give an exact date for complete withdrawal “but we are moving in right direction”, he added.
