The United States says that the process of activating the supply routes has just begun and it will take time for the backlog to be cleared. The US is working with Pakistan on some residual technical arrangements for this purpose. State Department spokesman Patrick Ventrell during briefing on Monday said the US is working with Pakistan to move ahead and clear the backlog. He however did not give a timeframe to clear it. Asked if the US and Pakistan are working to resume the strategic dialogue which has been stalled for more than a year, Ventrell said we want to get our relationship back on track. We look to the future in our relationship with Pakistan and so we look forward to more intensively engaging with them on a whole range of issues as we go forward. He pointed out that a Core Group meeting took place in Tokyo between the Afghan foreign minister, the Pakistani foreign minister, and Secretary Clinton. He said the US continues intensive engagement with the Pakistanis.
