tiny African nation of Burundi, seeking to emerge from a devastating civil war, has been again threatened by all-out conflict amid fresh clashes and failed talks between the government and rebels. As the two sides sought unsuccessfully to reach agreement in negotiations over the weekend to reinstate a 2006 ceasefire deal, the army attacked National Liberation Forces (FNL) rebel positions south of Bujumbura. An FNL offensive launched last month on the capital and in the country's west has already led to the deaths of more than 120 people.
